Human Resources Manager

Job Overview
The HR Manager / Lead position will assist each department in the execution of their business plans. The focus of this role will be on improving group and individual performance, management execution of key initiatives (e.g., culture initiative, performance management), progressive labor relations and talent development. The HR Manager / Lead maintains an effective level of knowledge about the business, including finance and strategic planning.
Essential Functions:
Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, corrective actions).Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.Provide labor contract administration guidance and interpretation along with HR Policies.Works with management to develop onboarding plans for new hires. Conduct 30, 60, and 90-day meetings with new hires to ensure effective transition to the organization.Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, improved work flow, workforce planning and succession planning.Identify training needs for business units and participate in evaluating training programs to ensure success. Follow up to ensure training objectives are met.Develop, recommend and implement HR policies and procedures.In coordination with Recruitment Manager, work with hiring managers to screen and interview candidates; conduct exit interviews.Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the HR department and services performed.Lead special and cross-functional project teams.Partner with the legal department as needed/required.
Bachelor's degree and 5 to 8 years of human resources experience in a unionized setting.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including employee and union relations compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, performance management, change management and federal and state employment laws.
Availability to work a Tuesday to Saturday work schedule and to work on site at all three NYRA race tracks: Aqueduct Racetrack, Belmont Park and Saratoga Race Course.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
