Box Office Representative

Job Overview
The Box Office Representative sells, cross-sells, and up-sells NYRA admission, seating and event hospitality to increase sales revenue, which involves responding to incoming calls for information on NYRA tickets, event hospitality, services offered, and pricing; and, taking all relevant information to begin the ticketing and sales process. Provides excellent customer service relating to all aspects of the client and guest experience at NYRA by responding to requests for information and offering assistance as requested. Sells reserved seating and event hospitality tickets, on a rotational basis, to patrons who visit NYRA tracks.
Responsibilities
Sells, cross-sells, and up-sells NYRA event hospitality to increase sales revenue, which involves:
Responding to incoming calls, emails, and live Web chat inquiries for information on NYRA event hospitality, services offered, and pricing; Taking all relevant information to begin the ticketing and sales process;
Discussing options for facilities, food service, entertainment, and amenities with the client; Offering suggestions to improve the event;
Sending brochures to targeted companies recorded on various mailing lists;
Maintaining a contact database of potential clients;
Checking ticket availability to determine if facilities are available;
Explaining the terms of the NYRA event contract to clients;
Closing the sale and coordinating ticket distribution of event tickets for the client;
Calling potential clients by phone to solicit their business; and,
Identifying potential sponsorship cross sales and referring to sponsorship.
Sells reserved seating and event hospitality tickets, on a rotational basis, to patrons who visit the racetrack.
Provides excellent customer service relating to all aspects of the client and guest experience at NYRA to by responding to requests for information and offering assistance as requested.
May perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of successful telephone selling experience with additional guest service experience preferred.
Preferred Experience: Knowledge of Ticketmaster Archtics ticketing application.
Other Requirements: Computer literacy, Driver's license and ability to work the racing schedule including holidays and weekends; A high level of proficiency with English, excellent articulation, ability to employ tact and diplomacy when dealing with potential clients, excellent understanding of telephone etiquette; may be required to relocate to Saratoga for the summer meet (7 weeks) to operate the Box Office at the upstate racecourse.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
